Lucas Sun is based out of Los Angeles, CA and is currently a junior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he works as a Photography Intern for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. Before joining Illinois Athletics, he spent his early creative years producing news segments and writing stories for his high school’s broadcast program, a role that shaped his approach to visual narrative. After arriving at Illinois, he continued that trajectory as a photojournalist for The Daily Illini, covering campus life, events, and reportage assignments across the university.

 

Beyond assignments, Lucas pursues a wide range of photographic subjects. His work spans landscapes, street photography, action, and any moment that carries visual tension or narrative weight. His background in newsroom production and journalistic storytelling anchors his photography in clarity and intention, while his personal shooting style reflects curiosity, movement, and a commitment to capturing scenes as they unfold.
